Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport delivered an unforgettable performance during the prestigious CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa weekend, one of the highlights of the international motorsport calendar. Competing in the GT4 European Series with the #12 BMW M4 GT4, Thomas Rackl and Gabriele Piana claimed victory in both races, marking a first in the team’s history. Their outstanding results propelled BOM from eighth to second place in both the Teams’ and Drivers’ standings, further cementing the team’s place among the championship contenders.
On the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, where track temperatures exceeded 40°C and tens of thousands of spectators filled the grandstands, Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport stood out with an exceptional performance. Racing against a highly competitive field of 45 cars, Rackl and Piana combined flawless strategy with outstanding pace to dominate the weekend.
Starting Race 1 from 15th on the grid on Friday evening, Thomas Rackl made an impressive opening stint, climbing through the field. An early pit strategy handed the car over to experienced driver Gabriele Piana, whose decisive overtakes and consistent pace brought the team into podium contention. Following a time penalty for the leading car in the closing stages, Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport inherited victory and celebrated a memorable first win of the weekend.
In the #11 BMW M4 GT4, experienced driver Yağız Gedik and promising young talent Batı Yıldırım also enjoyed a successful opening race. Starting sixth in the Pro-Am class, the duo fought their way to second place, securing a well-deserved podium finish. Their strong teamwork and steadily improving performance underlined their growing competitiveness for the remainder of the season.
Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport continued its dominant form in Saturday morning’s Race 2. Gabriele Piana took the lead shortly after the start and controlled the race from the front. Despite a Safety Car period, the team maintained its advantage and crossed the finish line in first place, completing a remarkable double victory weekend. Meanwhile, the #11 BMW M4 GT4, which had started from pole position, fought for another podium despite receiving a 12-second time penalty and ultimately finished fourth.
