Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport Completed the Second Round of the Season at Monza
News - 01 June 2026

Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport (BOM) completed the second round of the 2026 GT4 European Series at Monza Circuit in Italy. During the race weekend, qualifying sessions and Race 1 took place on Saturday, May 30, while Race 2 was held on Sunday, May 31. Competing in a highly competitive field, the team gained valuable experience and secured important championship points.

In the opening race of the weekend, Yağız Gedik and Batı Yıldırım, sharing the No. 11 car, suffered significant damage to the right side of their BMW following an unfortunate on-track collision. Thanks to the swift and efficient work of the technical crew, the car returned to the race, allowing the duo to take the checkered flag in 36th overall and 19th in the Silver class.

One of the standout performances of Race 1 came from the No. 12 car. Starting from 29th on the grid, Thomas Rackl and Gabriele Piana delivered an impressive comeback drive, overtaking 20 competitors throughout the race. They finished 9th overall and 7th in the Silver class, earning six championship points for the team after a remarkable performance.

On the second day at Monza, the No. 12 crew maintained their competitive pace. Despite being involved in on-track contact during the race, Rackl and Piana continued their strong performance and initially crossed the finish line 12th overall and 8th in the Silver class. Following a 10-second penalty handed to one of the competitors ahead, the duo was promoted to 7th place in the Silver class, securing another six championship points.

Meanwhile, the No. 11 car of Yağız Gedik and Batı Yıldırım was forced to retire after first-lap contact, preventing the pair from finishing the second race of the weekend.

Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport concluded the Monza weekend with a total of 12 championship points, leaving Italy with valuable experience and positive momentum for the remainder of the season.

The third round of the GT4 European Series will take place at Spa-Francorchamps Circuit in Belgium on 25–27 June.
