Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport Targets GT4 Championship and European Expansion in Karting
News - 08 January 2026

Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport (BOM) celebrated its achievements in the 2025 season in GT4 and karting competitions with a special event. BOM finished the GT4 European Series as Silver Category Teams’ Championship runner-up, while concluding the Motul Turkish Karting Championship in second place. Among the team’s athletes, Ayşe Çebi claimed the Turkish Championship in the Senior category, and Muratcan Eğilmez secured the Turkish Championship in the Master category, marking the standout achievements of the season.

In the 2026 season, Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport will compete in the GT4 European Series with the goal of winning both the Teams’ and Drivers’ Championships in the Silver category. Expanding its ambitions in karting as well, BOM will become the first Turkish team to compete in two different international series in Europe during the 2026 season.

Highlighting the strategic importance of Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport within the company, Borusan Otomotiv Executive Board Chairman Hakan Tiftik stated:

“When we embarked on this journey in 2008 as Borusan Otomotiv, our aim was to contribute to the development of motorsports in Turkey and to represent our country more strongly on the international stage. Since its establishment, our team—which has covered 67,000 kilometers on track and has represented our country continuously for eight years in the GT4 European Series—has started nearly 480 races across 39 different circuits in 22 countries on four continents, achieving dozens of podium finishes.

Our BOM Karting team, after completing 30,500 kilometers of competition in Turkey and earning numerous podiums, is now preparing to compete on European circuits.”

Tiftik also added:

“BOM has evolved beyond being a structure that solely carries out sporting activities, becoming a center that discovers young talents, contributes to their development, prepares them for international competitions, and produces technical knowledge and expertise. Today, with the consistent national and international success we have achieved in both GT4 and karting competitions, we can clearly see how solid the foundations of this vision are. I sincerely congratulate all our valuable athletes and technical team members who have put great effort into achieving these successes.”

Borusan Otomotiv Co-Chairman of the Board Levent Kocabıyık commented:

“The 2025 season was not only successful in terms of on-track results, but also an extremely intense and instructive year in terms of athlete development, our technical structure, and operational discipline. Planned athlete development, a strong technical setup, and disciplined operational processes played a significant role behind all the achievements we accomplished.

We are preparing for the 2026 season with the same determination and motivation. We are heading to the GT4 European Series with the goal of winning both the Teams’ and Drivers’ Championships in the Silver category. On the karting side, we continue our long-term vision that places athlete development and international experience at its core. In this direction, by realizing another first in Turkey, we will compete as a team in two different international series in Europe next season. We hope to represent our country successfully in these series, which we believe will provide invaluable experience for our young athletes.”

As part of the celebration event, Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, Cem Bölükbaşı, and Zayn Sofuoğlu, whom Borusan Otomotiv sponsors, were presented with gifts in recognition of their achievements. In addition, gifts were presented to the GT4 and karting drivers and technical teams as a token of appreciation for their outstanding performance throughout the season.

BOM to Continue Competing with Two Cars in the 2026 GT4 European Series

In the 2026 season, Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport will continue to compete in the GT4 European Series with two cars. The No. 11 car will be driven by Yağız Gedik and young Turkish driver Batı Yıldırım, who joins the team as of 2026. The No. 12 car will feature Gabriele Piana, who brings extensive international experience, alongside BMW M Racing Academy driver Thomas Rackl.

European Challenge Begins in Karting

In the 2026 season, BOM will also take a significant step in karting, enabling a Turkish team to compete in an international series in Europe for the first time. Through this initiative, participation is planned in the Belgium-based BNL Karting Series and the Rotax Euro Trophy, aiming to introduce athletes to European racing culture at an early age.

Successful Performance by Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport in 2025

Completing the 2025 season in the GT4 European Series as second in the Silver Category Teams’ Championship and third in the Drivers’ Championship, Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport drew attention with nine podium finishes achieved across 12 races held at six different circuits throughout the season.

On the karting side, Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport showcased a multi-category and balanced structure in the 2025 season by achieving strong results in the Mini, Junior, Senior, and Master categories. Ayşe Çebi’s championship victory in the Senior category, marking a first in the history of the Turkish Karting Championship, stood out as one of the season’s highlights. Meanwhile, BOM also claimed the championship with Muratcan Eğilmez in the Master category, finishing the Karting Teams’ Championship in second place by just two points.
