Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport Introduces 2024 Karting Team at a Special Event
Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport (BOM) Karting Team unveiled its roster for the 2024 Turkish Karting Championship at a special event attended by automotive and sports media representatives. Hosted by Borusan Otomotiv Executive Board Chairman Hakan Tiftik and Co-Chairman Levent Kocabıyık, the event featured the team's drivers, including 5-year-old Zayn Sofuoğlu, the youngest karting driver in Turkey. Other team members are Efe Ayhan, a standout from the 2023 season, Rüzgar Evci, who secured third place in the Mini Category of the 2022 Turkish Karting Championship, and Sarp Arhan Or, the Turkish Formula Junior Karting Champion.
Vision and Achievements of BOM
Borusan Otomotiv Executive Board Chairman Hakan Tiftik expressed his pride in BOM’s journey over 16 years, stating, “BOM was founded with a forward-looking vision and great dreams. Seeing these realized one by one fills us with indescribable joy. Over 16 years, BOM has achieved significant success, competing in nearly 440 races across 38 tracks in 21 countries on 4 continents. The team has also been Turkey's first and only representative in the GT4 European Series for seven consecutive years."
Highlighting BOM Karting Team’s progress since its inception in 2020, Tiftik added, "The team has introduced young talents to motorsports, achieving great results, including three Turkish Karting Championships. I have no doubt that Zayn Sofuoğlu, Efe Ayhan, Rüzgar Evci, and Sarp Arhan Or will become future champions representing Turkey on international platforms."
Co-Chairman Levent Kocabıyık emphasized the significance of karting as an entry point into motorsports. He recalled the team's establishment in 2020 and their notable achievements, including championships in the Senior and Master categories, as well as consistent podium finishes. "In 2024, we aim for championships in all categories we compete in. With our talented and promising drivers, I believe we are ready for an exciting and competitive season," said Kocabıyık.

Zayn Sofuoğlu
Born on April 11, 2019, Zayn started exploring motorsports at just 1.5 years old. He participated in the Turkish Super Moto Championship at four years old, winning his first official race. In 2024, Zayn will compete in the TOSFED Micro Support Cup as the youngest participant, taking on older competitors in fierce competition.
Efe Ayhan
Born in July 2013, Efe began his motorsport journey at a young age. He joined BOM Karting in 2023, participating in six rounds of the seven-round Turkish Karting Championship. This season, Efe will aim for the Mini Group Championship, driving a turquoise #132 kart. Efe dreams of competing with BOM in various categories and achieving multiple championships.
Rüzgar Evci
Rüzgar started karting at six years old, receiving foundational training in motorsports. Over three years in the Turkish Karting Championship, he consistently reached the podium, except in races marred by mechanical issues. In 2023, he won the Rotax Max Challenge Turkey and represented Turkey at the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals in Bahrain, joining the ranks of only two Turkish pilots to reach the finals. In 2024, Rüzgar will compete in the Turkish Karting Championship with BOM and race internationally in the WSK Open Series, Euro Series, and Final Cup in Italy with Babyrace Driver Academy.
Sarp Arhan Or
Sarp began his motorsport career in motocross at nine years old, achieving significant milestones, including championships and a 5th place finish in the European season. Transitioning to karting, he became the Turkish Karting Champion in his debut season, showcasing his talent. Sarp has started 51 karting races, finishing 41 on the podium and winning 13, with 15 pole positions to his name. In 2024, he will compete as part of BOM Karting Team.
